Wild Florida Goes to Houston

I shouldn't wait so long to update the blog. But it is what it is.
Back in August, after the terrible flooding that the Houston area experienced following Hurricane Harvey, our boys at Wild Florida answered the call for anyone with a boat to come help. They loaded their trucks with fuel and supplies and pulled 2 airboats to aid in rescue and relief efforts and it was an amazing experience for everyone involved.
Rolling out on August 29th.
They slept their first night under the covered portion of a gas station to keep out of the rain. Thats Daniel right there... Crazy!
Their original plans kind of fell through as they traveled but through the Coast Guard and local law enforcements they ended up in Sour Lake, Texas which is exactly where they were supposed to be. They worked from sun up to sun down and rescued over 200 people of all ages (and many dogs!). Here are some of the pictures they snapped:
After a long first day they were headed back to the gas station when one of the local rescuemen made a phone call and the sweetest family took our boys in. Gave them a delicous hot home cooked dinner, a hot shower and a home to sleep in. Total strangers. Taking care of our boys. I will be forever grateful for them. Daniel said amid all the tragedy and loss there was a permeable feeling of unity and love among all the many people who came to help rescue and among the people being rescued. It was an experience he'll never forget.
