Utah Trip Spring Break 2021

We've decided that this trip goes down in the books as one of our best family trips ever!! Wow, was this trip so much fun!! Not only were we able to see all of our Utah family but every single one of our snow dreams came true!! We will not wait another 4 years to go back, that is certain!!

We flew out with Jordan and Shanda's family which is best case scenario because all the kids were so content to be on the plane with their best cuzzies.

We flew in Thursday evening and spent the first 3 nights in Salt Lake City and stayed with Jake and Tiff and their family. They let us have their whole basement (plenty of room, so comfortable, and the kids were in heaven!) It was so fun!! We went to breakfast the next morning then sorted through our snow gear and dressed ready to find some snow!! Jake and Tiff rounded up some sleds for us and we drove into the canyon and found the perfect place to play in the most beautiful snow!!! The weather was beautiful... not too cold and sunny!!

The snow was soooo delicious!!
Snow Angels!!
Our Snowman!!
I've seriously never seen bigger smiles on my children. They were all so happy!!
Snowball fight!!!!
All the sledding you could imagine!

Later that evening we met up with all the Provo/Orem folks at the cutest little bowling alley in Heber. It was so fun reuniting with all the cousins!!
A little late night puzzle action!!

The next day we got tickets to go snow tubing at Soldier's Hollow. This was a lot of fun, too!! We each had our own tube and just held onto one another and raced down together.... we picked up quite a bit of speed. After our 2nd run Benny said he was all done and ready to go home! Maybe a little to speedy for him? We took it easy the next couple runs then called it a night.

After our weekend in Salt Lake we headed down to Provo for the rest of our stay. We stayed at the Residence Inn and had great accommodations there! Our first day we stuff our faces with all-you-can-eat pancakes and French toast at Magelby's... a definite must!! After breakfast we took a little drive up Provo Canyon to Bridal Veil Falls for a leisure hike with the kids. The day was beautiful and bright, the mountains so pretty and the trail was just perfect along the river and by the falls. The kids really enjoyed it. Benny especially like throwing rocks in the river. Shelly's kiddos joined us.
The cutest little hikers and the prettiest view!
Covid rules at the hotel made us "reserve" our swim time. It worked out perfectly because it only assured us the entire pool to ourselves!! We had a couple cuzzie swim days and it was great!
Tuesday was our big ski day!! Jackson and Ivy had a morning ski school session from 10-12:30 and Benny had a full day ski school session from 10-4. It was perfect. The older kids got the hang of it quickly and then were able to ski with us and their cousins after lunch. Benny had a little girl in his morning session school but she wasn't there in his afternoon session and he said to his instructor, "So we don't have to wait around for Maddie anymore?" Ha!! He loved having his instructor all to himself for the rest of the afternoon. They all had so much fun, it was great!!

I loved watching the kids walk out of the hotel in their ski gear!
Heading out to their class!
With the kids in school we were able to spend some quality time on the slopes together!!
We had quite a few family members join us on the slopes!!
Find Benny.... (Camo pants)
Enjoying lunch at the lodge at our half way point.
After our fun day skiing all the girls headed over to the Quigley's house for Diana's (Henry's fiance) bridal shower! Since we won't be out for the wedding in April it was nice to celebrate her while we were there! After the shower we met up with the Oak Shore Drive gang at Jamison's and Sarah's house. Not quite as big but it felt the same!!
The next day Daniel had a chance to go fly fishing, arranged by Nate and Declan. They caught a lot of fish!!
We were pretty tired and unsure if it was a good idea, but had lift tickets back at Sundance for an evening ski on Wednesday. We geared ourselves back up and headed up the mountain. Ivy was in tears after putting on her ski boot she said it hurt so bad. I thought we had made a bad decision. But once we got everyone on the slopes it was the most wonderful evening. I think at the end of the night we agreed it was even better than the day before!! Jackson and Porter skiied together, we hardly saw them the entire time. Daniel, Benny, Ivy and I had the intentions of skiing together but Benny just took off and Daniel had to quickly follow him!! So we ended up paired up, Ivy and I leisurely going down the mountain and Benny and Daniel racing down! They passed us up at least twice! That kid is fearless!!
We wrapped things up about 8 and decided if we hurried we could hit the Pizza Factory before they closed. It was the best idea of the day. Back to where it all started 18+ years ago! I didn't let anybody order... I ordered everything for the table. My favorite pizza, my favorite pasta, my favorite salad, dipping sauces and breadtwists for all!! It was amazing... just as good as I remembered.
Our last day we spent saying our goodbyes, returning all our borrowed gear, hanging one last time with cousins and grabbing our last favorite snacks and sodas from the local soda shops. It truly was an amazing trip!! Already looking forward to the next one...

Our Floridian crew back on the airport tram in Orlando. Home Sweet (Humid)  Home!!

Spring School Pictures

They've finally gotten wise and have stopped sending home fully printed spring school pictures. Now it's just a little thumbnail to preview. I still won't buy 2 sets of pictures each year but I will still take a picture of the thumbnail. Not quite sure what happened to Benny's hair between the bus pick up and pictures but he certainly didn't leave the house looking like that!! Good thing his fall picture was a winner!

The Birthday Boys

We always start March off with birthdays!! Daniel is always celebrated, not always documented. This particular year he was dieting hard, so my offer for breakfast was turned down since we'd be eating out that night. We did enjoy sushi together, just the 2 of us, the Saturday before and we had a nice dinner that night at Outback with all the kids and his parents and my mom.

The next birthday boy turned 12 this year!! Here is our traditional birthday hat photo:
Daniel and I let him skip 1st period and we took him out to breakfast, The Cup Diner for biscuits and gravy... his favorite.
That night he had activity which was a really fun taste tester game of some sorts that he loved and his deacon's quorum president made him a large cookie cake which was really sweet. Just he and I stopped by Menchi's afterwards for some frozen yogurt... his treat of choice.
That Saturday we hauled a van full of middle school boys to the trampoline park in Palm Bay where they owned the dodge ball arena. Daniel bought all the boys Bangs (I was unaware of this or else I would not have allowed it), and we drove thru Burger King on the way home. There was a UFC fight that night that he and Daniel hurried off to when we got home. We finally had ice cream cake and sang to him on Sunday evening, over at Heather's, with a few of the cousins. So we pretty much celebrated all week!! He is well worth celebrating!!

Other February Events

This little guy. He has a loose tooth up top!!! You know what that means... he's about to change forever!!! I panicked and snapped a few pictures of that cute little chicklet toothed mouth before every last baby-thing of my baby boy is gone!!!

I got this picture at the airport when Daniel dropped me off when I left for St. Louis. Benny had been so sad about me leaving, which was the sweetest of course. How does Daniel cheer him up? Let's him ride in the front seat!!! Unbelievable!!
Cutest kids over Facetime.
Ivy is playing softball this season!! I feel like I've failed as a mom not having her signed up before now! And I just love being back at the ball fields. Take a look at this sunset!! Ivy's a sporty little thing so she has picked up really quickly... I'm excited to watch her play this season. Her very first at-bat of her life she hits a perfect little liner over the pitcher's head up the center of the field. She's normally at 3rd base because she has the best arm and... they are even going to try her at pitching!! So exciting!

Benny is doing another season of soccer. He really loves it. This kid is a runner... don't know where that came from!! He is starting flag football, too, so he will be a busy bee this season!
Handsomest haircut kid.
The big boys finally got their Kansas bucks back (from 2 hunting trips ago). Here they are in all their antler glory!

Here's a fun one to document. Jackson has himself a girlfriend!! It was the week before Christmas break and he hops on our golfcart after getting off the bus and he's got a giddy grin on his face and we learn it's because a girl at school likes him and he likes her!! Well before we know it, she's his girlfriend and here we are... over 2 months later, still going strong. Now, don't get me wrong... she's a darling little girl and I'm glad Jackson is open about communicating with us... but we are about 4 years away from him actually being old enough to date so... there's a little bit of a problem here. He says he can't drive and they don't go out on dates so they aren't actually dating but that's just semantics. Parenting is so tricky. But here is the happy couple - picture snapped by a friend at lunchtime.  Do you think the masks will keep them from kissing?

St. Louis

Just call me a traveling fool!! I spent February going here and going there!! So nice to be able to leave and let Daniel hold down the fort while I'm gone! On this particular weekend I was able to go to St. Louis for Molly's wedding!! I had been out to see her the end of 2019 after her first husband passed away and now I was able to travel back for her wedding to Rich!! It was such a fun weekend!!

Airport selfie!
First highlight.... I got to see EMREE!!! She's serving her mission in St. Louis and was transferred the week before to a suburb 20 minutes from the airport... it was definitely meant to be! She received permission from her mission president for me to take her and her companion out to dinner. We met at Outback and had the most wonderful visit!! She comes home in July, right around the corner!! She looked so good and was so happy. Oh how I love her!!

The rest of the weekend I was in wedding mode! I got in late Thursday night and Friday we spent running last minute errands for the wedding. The wedding was at a little Air B&B which was nice because all the girls stayed Friday night at the place the wedding would be the next day. We went to a delicious dinner that night and partied like girls at a sleepover, woohoo!! The next morning we were already there so we just had to get things ready and get ready ourselves! It was so fun. I helped with the charcutterie board (wish I had taken a picture of that, darn!) and curled a lot of people's hair. It really was just so fun. The ceremony was perfect and beautiful and Molly was so so happy! I stayed Saturday night with her girls at their house and flew home Sunday. It was a perfect trip to celebrate my friend.
haha, also, children everywhere are EXACTLY THE SAME. So if you think I was getting away from my kids, I wasn't. Because I was with a bunch of children who acted pretty much exactly the same as my own kids so I didn't skip a beat... complete with finding random selfies on my phone later!! haha!!
