My Birthday Boys

The month of March always brings my birthday boys from the very start! Daniel was 41 this year! We just went out to dinner and didn't take a single picture. Shucks. As for Jackson's birthday, we started the celebration on Saturday the 2nd. He invited 3 of his friends to our favorite trampoline park and we all had a blast!! The boys came over afterwards for a swim and we had a great day. And again, I didn't take a single picture (a few videos from the trampoline park but that's it). Sunday night we invited all the family over for cake and ice cream. A Fortnite cake was requested. On Monday, the actual birthday of the boy, I let him skip school. Daniel and I took him to Koffee Kup for breakfast at his request. We went to Walmart to run an errand and I let him pick something out for himself. We got his physical for football taken care of and that night we ate at Buffet City (also his request). We opened gifts that evening and enjoyed our big 10 year old. I can hardly believe I have a 10 year old!!

Winter Basketball Complete!

The cast came off in February!! Yay! Bone was looking good with great new growth! Jackson said it felt sooo good!! Unfortunately, he was given a removeable cast to be worn during contact sports for the following 3 months. He wasn't a happy camper about that but better safe than sorry!! He was able to finish out his last 2 basketball games with the temporary cast.  His coach was so good about involving him in practice with his broken arm and he had a great first season. Looking forward to many more!

Auf Wiedersehen

We said goodbye to one of our favorite and dearest nieces, Maddie. She left mid February for the Missionary Training Center in London, England where she trained and learned the German language. Her call was to the Alpine mission which includes all of Austria, parts of Germany and other neighboring principalitites. So far she has served in Vienna and Innsbruck. At this point she is 1/3 of the way through and she is doing awesome! We really miss her though!

Viva La Mexico!!

As you can see, I'm a little behind in my blogging! I made a list of 24 posts I need to do... yikes!! Here is to catching up!!

After our cruise and Christmas break we jumped back into the swing of things with school. But our next adventure was right around the corner.

Daniel's parents arranged a getaway to Mexico for all of his siblings and their spouses in February. We went to a place off the coast of Cancun called Isla Mujeres. It was so much fun!! Everyone was able to come except Ryan and Heather who were getting ready to send Maddie off on her mission (that post will follow next!!)

Headed to the airport!!

Here's the Florida crew ready to depart!!
Christine was my airplane partner!

Of course we had to stop on the way from the airport to the ferry for some tacos!!

And we made it to the hotel!! It was beautiful!!

We changed right into our suits and enjoyed the beach!
Me and Leah!
Countless games of Spikeball!!!
We found another really beautiful beach where we sunbathed, snorkeled and took lots and lots of pictures for Kara and Shelly's swimsuit company, Raising Wild.
We had a family devotional one night, Mexican themed of course!!
Paddle boarding with Erika... yes please!!
We swam with the dolphins! I have to admit it's something that was never on my "bucket list" but it should have been!! It was so fun. The dophins were so smart!! I really loved it!
So I tried a thing.... SCUBA DIVING!!! After a quick course in the hotel pool we were set to jet!! And I'll have to say that I didn't really like it. I survived it, though. It was stressful, the breathing, the balancing, the equalizing. I experience a bit of nausea on the ascend. Just keep me at the top of the water where I am safe and sound, please. But I am happy I tried it and did it!!

Lots of late night hotel games and shenanigans.
Just about every night we went into "town." Lots of fun shopping, eating, walking, and churros!!
I will say I could have used a bit more time relaxing on the beach... but I suppose that isn't as much fun.
So the preferred mode of transportation around the island... golf cart!! We felt like seasoned professionals since our stay in Belize. It was quite the line-up this go around!
We didn't eat at the hotel very much, but we enjoyed regular breakfast together, beachside!
Cute picture of the little down town area.

Our final meal in Mexico!!
