What We Do Best.... Fish

The month of May Jackson and his friend, Saylor, started up their own "fishing tournament" which is basically a set time in the evening to fish and whoever brings in the most weight with a limit of 3 or 4 fish wins! It has become quite popular as they take on different opponents. It started with Daniel and Benny. Then Daniel took Ivy and Sophie. Then Jordan joined with Crew. On a day Saylor wasn't available, Jackson partnered with PJ. It's been a fun little evening hobby. Highlight... Benny caught his personal best with Daniel one night (4.5 lbs)

Any given evening after school you can find these 2 fishing around the pond.

These girls aren't to be left out! Fishing off the kayaks at Jordan and Shanda's lakefront.

Daniel took a weekend trip to the Bahamas with his brothers and nephew. Funny story to accompany this one...
They left early in the morning... around 3:00am... to drive down to Lake Worth and then boat over. About 30 minutes after he left and I had returned to sleep, Jackson comes in my room informing me that he had just thrown up. He made it to the toilet, nothing to clean up, so he just brushed his teeth and went back to bed. Cue 1 hour later and I hear Benny fling his door open with a loud, "Mom!!" I bolt out of bed in time to watch him puke all over the floor! (My kids are generally healthy tykes... they do not get sick very often and in fact, this might be the first time ever the poor boy has thrown up, so he had no idea what was coming or what to expect). Anyhow. Benny continues to throw up about every 20 minutes for the following 2 hours (luckily he caught on really quick and made it to the toilet each time after the first). Of course, once he finally stops and falls back to sleep for a minute I hear poor Jackson again down the hall getting sick!! What a nightmare!! But it gets better. I text my workout girls that I am not making it to workout that morning because I have sick kiddos and one of my workout buddies said she had also been up, since midnight, with 3 of her kids all sick to their stomachs. Whoa! So that's crazy! Next, I get a text from Shanda, saying her kids aren't going to school today, 3/4 of them have been throwing up all morning and she's expecting the 4th to bite the dust any minute. I seriously have never heard of such a thing. Come to find out that over 15 cousins/friends/neighbors came down with this stomach bug that very same night/morning. We pinned it down to a friends mission call opening 2 nights prior... the only place we could think of that everyone was at. Apparently very contagious! When I had a chance to talk to Daniel later that morning the bad news was that he, too, had been sick to his stomach. Don't know how Ivy and I avoided it, but we did!! Good thing was, it was over in 24 hours. Lucky for me the weekend with Daniel gone wasn't a total disaster and lucky for him he still was able to fish in the Bahamas!

They took Ryan's boat over and were supposed to return Sunday. They ran into some motor trouble, however and delayed their departure. Handy dandy Daniel (now referred to as MacGyver) rigged the motor well enough to return home Monday and all is well!!
